HIGH SCHOOL:
- A football (Coach Joe Kremer), basketball, and baseball letterwinner at St. Augustine High in San Diego, Calif.
- A versatile football player, he was used as an outside linebacker, defensive end, and rover on defense and a wide receiver and tight end on offense
- During his high school career, he was credited with 154 tackles, 24.0 tackles for loss, 8.5 quarterback sacks, 11 pass break-ups, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and intercepted four passes
- As a senior, Stearns was a team captain and named the Saints’ defensive Most Valuable Player
PERSONAL: Plans to major in engineering... A member of San Diego chapter of Links Achievers which invites outstanding high school seniors to participate in programs to enhance leadership skills, college preparedness, brotherhood, and financial responsibility... Stearns also participates in the school’s Big Brother program and serves as a mentor... Related to the five Ogbogu family members who played college football at Maryland (Eric), Houston (Ike), Army (Zachary), Eastern Kentucky (Desmond), and Santa Clara (Fran)... He is most proud of his work ethic as measured in his 38-inch vertical leap and his 10-foot-8 standing long jump... A San Diego native.
