Born and raised in the Bay Area, Devansh Mehra was named a defensive graduate assistant at San José State in January of 2026. Mehra has a deep-rooted passion for the game and a unique background in storytelling. A proud product of Redwood City, Devansh’s journey from the sidelines of Sequoia High School to the collegiate ranks is fueled by a relentless work ethic and a commitment to player development.
- Hometown Roots: A Bay Area native through and through, Devansh graduated from Sequoia High School in 2019.
- Early Experience: Before transitioning to the college level, he returned to his alma mater to serve as a coach for two seasons, helping shape the next generation of Sequoia athletes.
- First-Generation Success: As a first-generation college student, Devansh carries the values of his parents, who emigrated from India to build a life in the U.S. He remains close with his family, including his 18-year-old brother, Shivi.
Collegiate & Professional Journey
- Mehra spent four formative years at the University of Nevada, where he served as a Student Assistant. During his time in Reno, he immersed himself in the defensive side of the ball, gaining invaluable experience in film breakdown, scouting, and daily operations.
While his career is built on the field, his academic background is in Journalism. This unique degree gives him a distinct edge in communication, allowing him to break down complex defensive schemes into clear, actionable coaching for his players.
