Pat Sarver joined the San José State cross country and women’s track & field programs as a volunteer assistant in August of 2016. He assists with both the men’s and women’s cross country teams and distance track events including: 800, 1500, 3000 steeplechase, 5000 and 10000 meters.
Sarver came to the Spartans after being the head coach for cross country and assistant coach for track & field at L’Anse Creuse High School – North in Macomb, Mich., from 2010-16.
Sarver’s coaching experience began in 2008 when he was an assistant coach for Notre Dame Preparatory High School in Pontiac, Mich. He is now a USATF Level 1 Certified coach in endurance events.
The 2010 graduate of Oakland University in Rochester Hills, Mich., earned a bachelor’s degree in English. Sarver was the team captain on the cross country and track & field teams for the Golden Grizzlies.
Sarver currently lives in San Jose, Calif.
