HIGH SCHOOL: Attended Abraham Lincoln High in San Jose where he was coached by his father, Jose Pina ... Qualified for the CIF State Championship his senior year and was the track and field league champion for the 3200m ... Set the 3200m record at the De Anza/Cupertino Invite with a time of 9:44.68 ... Posted personal bests of 6:24.14 in the 1600m and 9:39.03 in the 3200m.
