- Recorded personal-best 8K time of 27:20.5 at the Pacific Invitational (Sept. 30)

- Named All-State for cross country in 2021
HIGH SCHOOL:
- Attended Cathedral City High School and ran track for three years while running cross country all four years under coaches David Gonzales (3) and Ricardo Nevarez (1)
- A three-time MVP champion for both cross country and track
- Ran the 1600m with a time of 4:38
- Served two years as captain
- Named All-League for track and field in 2019 and 2020
- Named MVP All-District in 2019
PERSONAL: Chose San Jose State to start a new life, focus on academics, and for the culture... Made Honor Roll for the HEAL Academy... His father Enrique Chio played professional tennis in Europe and ran at the 1988 Olympic trials... His Mom Raquel Carrillo ran Track & Field in high school... His sister Francesca played tennis for three years in high school... Prefers to be called Chio... Two other siblings are Cassandra and Antonio
