Rudi Castro Season 2020-21

AT SJSU: Has completed two seasons with the Spartans. 

2020-21: Earned First Team All-WAC honors after receiving a pair of WAC Offensive Player of the Week awards throughout the season ... Was also named the United soccer Coaches National Player of the Week on Apr. 6 ... Received Preseason All-WAC nod in addition to being named to the Top Drawer Soccer Preseason Top 100 Team ... Started all nine matches he appeared in ... Scored five goals on 28 shots (tallied 16 shots on goal) ... Recorded a brace in the WAC quarterfinal match against Air Force (4/13) and was named to the WAC All-Tournament Team ... Tallied 10 assists on the season, ranking No. 2 in all of Division I in the category ... Had three multi-assist matches and one three-assist performance at Utah Valley (3/31) ... Racked up a team-leading 800 minutes on the pitch ... Played a career-high 109 minutes against UTRGV (3/20) ... Had a team-leading 20 points on the season. 

2019: Earned Second Team All-WAC honors in first year of Division I soccer ... Started all 18 matches he appeared in ... Scored nine goals on 59 shots ... Led the team in goals and finished second in the WAC for goals scored in conference play ... Recorded two braces on the season, one in record-setting victory over Kansas City (10/4) and one in 3-0 shutout win against Utah Valley (10/25) ... Tallied two assists on the season ... Put 31 shots on goal ... Racked up 1317 minutes on the pitch ... Played a season-high 101 minutes in pivotal draw at UTRGV (11/1) ... Team-leading 20 total points on the season. 

WEST VALLEY COLLEGE: Spent last two years dominating at West Valley College in Saratoga, California ... The forward was named to the United Soccer Coaches Junior College Division III All-America team in 2018 .... Also made the all-conference team ... Finished that sophomore season with 23 goals and 19 assists.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played soccer at Lincoln High in San José (coached by Ryan Edwards) ... Was named Freshman of the Year in his first season ... Played club ball for Force Academy (coached by Shaun Tsakiri).

GET TO KNOW RUDI: Has two siblings - Denzel and Alan ... Majoring in communications ... Plans on playing professional soccer after graduation ... Loves eating food.
