2020: INDOOR - Opened the season with a mark of 1:57.78 in the 800 and a 4:20.62 in the 1 Mile at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Collegiate Invitational (Jan. 24-25)...Hit 14:58.02 in the 5000 at the Husky Classic (Feb. 15)...Closed the season with a mark of 10:04.51 in the DMR and a 8:37.17 in the 3000 at the Mountain West Championships (Feb. 27-29)...OUTDOOR – Season canceled due to coronavirus pandemic.
2019: Highlight of the regular season was a 8:30.09 in the 3000 at the Boise State Challenge (placed 3rd)...Ran in the Mountain West Indoor Championships, hitting a mark of 15:23.09 in the 5000...Also competed in the conference outdoor championships with a time of 14:48.43 in the 5000...Ran in the NCAA West Prelims, hitting a mark of 30:32.66 in the 10,000.
2018: Highlight of the regular season was a 3:53.69 in the 1500 at the Sacramento State Hornet Invitational...Ran in the NCAA West Prelims, hitting a mark of 30:37.05 in the 10,000.
2017: Completed a redshirt season.
2016: Competed in three distances, the 1500m, 5000m and 10,000m… Finished third in the 5000m at the West Coast Last Chance meet (5/14) with a personal record 14:31.71... Ran the 1,500m at the Hornet Invitational (3/19) in 3:58.36... Competed in the 10,000m at the Mt.SAC Relays with a time of 31:03.71.
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2015 graduate of Lincoln High School in San Jose, Calif. ... Lettered in cross-country and track and field coached by his father (Jose Piña)... Broke school records in the 1,600m (4:17) and 3,200m (9:11)... During junior and senior seasons, qualified for the CIF state championships in cross country and track in his senior year.
