2017: Made 28 starts in 37 total appearances…earned 22 starts at catcher and six at designated player…batted .237 (18-for-76) with six runs and nine RBIs…had three extra-base hits - doubles against Seton Hall (3/9) and Cal State Fullerton (3/19) in the NCAA Regional and a homer against Creighton (2/9)…had two two-RBI efforts - vs. Southern Utah (2/17) and vs. McNeese State (3/3)…rapped out a season-high two hits in back-to-back games against Pacific (3/8) and Seton Hall…hit a sac fly against Grand Canyon (2/25)…worked pitchers for a career-high 10 walks…in leadoff opportunities hit .611 (11-for-18)…was successful in advancing runners in 20 out of 54 opportunities (.370) and with a runner on third and less than two outs batted .444 (4-for-9)…finished with a .352 on base percentage of and a .303 slugging percentage…had 104 putouts with a career-high 11 vs. Nevada (3/17) and 12 assists with two errors. 2016: Made 14 starts, all behind the plate, in 19 total appearances…batted .356 (16-for-45) and scored three runs…slugged .489 and had an on base percentage of .431…enjoyed four multi-hit games, including a single-game best of three at Nevada (4/23)… had doubles vs. LIU Brooklyn (2/26), at Utah State (4/10) and at Nevada …lone homer came at Utah State (4/9) and drove in three runs…in addition to three RBIs at Utah State, drove in a pair against LIU Brooklyn and single runs versus UNLV (3/30) and at Colorado State (4/3)…went 1-for-2 as a pinch hitter…earned six bases on balls including two against Oregon State (2/12).(Game-by-Game Stats)
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2015 graduate of Pioneer High School in San Jose, Calif....a four-year letterwinner (coach Ernie Garcia)…Blossom Valley Athletic League (BVAL) Mt. Hamilton Division Champions as a junior and senior…earned Senior and Junior of the Year honors…an All-BVAL performer in each of her four seasons…team's Offensive Player of the Year in 2014 and 2015…won Freshman of the Year honors in 2012.
ALEXANDRA: Majoring in kinesiology with an emphasis in athletic training and a minor in nutrition...plans to pursue a career as an athletic trainer…played club ball for the California Riptide (coaches Darryl Simon & Tomas Andalon)…the daughter of Melissa Pelaiz and Cruz Luna...Alexandra Luna is a native of San Jose, California.
