A three-year member of the San José State women’s basketball team, in 2017-18 Chereese Thomas begins her third year as the program’s Director of Basketball Operations.
Thomas’ primary duties encompass all aspects of the team’s game-day operations, coordination of all travel and overseeing the Spartans’ Ball-Girl program. In addition, she spearheads the team’s outreach within the community and assists with camps and fundraising efforts.
Thomas transferred to San José State prior to the 2012-13 season after earning Northern California Player of the Year, Coast Conference MVP and first team all-state honors at Ohlone College. In her first season she led the Spartans in minutes (1,083) and assists (102) as the starting point guard. The youngest team in the nation that year, the Spartans enjoyed the seventh best win-loss turnaround among more than 120 Division I programs
A 2014 San José State graduate with a degree in communications studies, Thomas was a three-time San José State Scholar-Athlete and earned academic all-conference honors. She is currently a graduate student studying mass communications and journalism, and will earn her master’s degree in Fall 2016.
