2012-13: Made 28 starts in 30 appearances...averaged 11.4 points, 10.9 rebounds, 2.1 blocks, 1.7 steals and 0.8 assists in 28.4 minutes per game...set the program single-season blocks (64) and blocks per game average (2.1) records...set the San Jose State freshman rebounding record (327)...led Spartans freshman in starts, points, blocks and steals...19 rebounds against Cal State Northridge (12/1) equaled an Event Center record as did her eight steals against UTSA (12/31)...led the WAC in rebounds, blocked shots as well as offensive (3.93) and defensive rebounds (6.76) and ranked N. 18 in scoring...had 13 double-doubles, 10 of which came in conference play...scored a season-high 24 points against Southern Utah (12/8)...blocked a single-game high six shots at San Francisco (12/15)...dished out a season-best three assists at New Mexico State (2/14)...finished the season ranked No. 25 in the nation in rebounding and No. 28 in blocks.
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2012 graduate of Inderkum High School (coach Phillip Hampton) in Sacramento, Calif....a four-year letterwinner, her teams went a combined 86-26 overall, 38-4 in Tri-County League play...averaged double-figure scoring and rebounding each of her four years including 15.3 points and 15.1 rebounds as a senior...a three-time Tri-County League champion, she earned League MVP honors as a freshman, junior and senior and was honored as the team MVP in each of those years as well...set team records for points, field goals, field goal and free throw percentage and rebounds in a career...as a junior ripped down a record 28 rebounds...recorded a record 20 double-doubles as a senior...among seniors in California, finished in the top-25 in scoring (#22), rebounds (#12), blocks (#7), assists (#5) and steals (#16)...honored with the school's Academic Achievement Award and the Co-Student Athlete of the Year Award.
RIANA: Earned a degree in communications studies in May, 2016...plans to attend graduate school for architecture after graduation...enjoys taking walks and listening to music in her spare time...the daughter of Tiffany Stephens and Darryl Byrd, Sr....Riana Byrd is a native of Walnut Creek, Calif.
