No stranger to the Mountain West, Brandon Morrison joined the San José State women’s basketball program prior to the 2025-26 season.
The 2025-26 Spartan team ranked 29th nationally and first in the Mountain West in three-pointers attempted and 65th in blocked shots. Academically, three Spartans received Mountain West Scholar Athlete recognition, the conference’s top academic honor, and seven were Academic All-Mountain West honorees.
Morrison spent 2016-20 at conference foe UNLV. He started as a video coordinator in 2016 and was promoted to assistant coach in 2017, a role he held for three seasons.
During his time at UNLV, he was responsible for scouting, recruiting and film breakdown. In player development, he worked with perimeter and post players and assisted in offensive play calling. His players earned numerous awards, including the 2017 MW 6th Player of the Year, the 2017 and 2019 MW Defensive Player of the Year, three All-MW selections and two All-MW Defensive Team honorees.
Morrison came to San José State after serving as the assistant coach/recruiting coordinator at Eastern Washington for the 2021-25 seasons. He was the primary guard coach and assisted in defensive planning and strategies for each opponent.
While at EWU, the team won the 2024 Big Sky Regular Season and Tournament Championships and played in the NCAA Tournament. He coached the 2024 Big Sky Player of the Year, two Big Sky Defensive Players of the Year, two Big Sky Freshman of the Year and had multiple players on the All-Big Sky Team and All-Big Sky Defensive Team.
Morrison has also served as an advanced scout for the WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks where he live-scouted games and created scouting reports.
Morrison graduated from UNLV in 2016 with his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology. He earned a master’s degree in Sport Administration from the University of Miami in 2018 and his Doctor of Education in Sport and Athletic Management from North Central University in 2022.
