SPARTAN NOTES: Entering her third year of competition with the Spartans in 2020.
2019: Competed in all five races...best time was a 21:17.8 at the Santa Clara Invitational (10/19)...top finish was a 34th place showing at the USF Invitational (9/3).
2018: Took the season as a redshirt.
2017: Competed two times, at the USF Invitational (9/2) and Bronco Invitational (10/14)...best time was a 23:53.3 at the Bronco Invitational and top finish was a 50th place at the USF Invitational.
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2017 graduate of Los Banos (Calif.) High School…earned one letter in cross country (coach Joe Barcellos) and four in track and field (coach Ernie Wilhite)…a five-time All-Western Athletic Conference honoree…as a senior earned the school’s Ms. Tiger Award as the outstanding female athlete of the year…as a junior won the Sac-Joaquin Section title in the 400-meters.
MIKAYLA: Plans to major in biological engineering and pursue a career as a veterinarian…in her spare time enjoys singing and spending with animals…the daughter Carmen and Sam Akers…Mikayla Akers is a native of Hollister, Calif.
