AT SAN JOSE STATE: Completed her fourth season with the Spartans... A sprint freestyle specialist... On the San José State top-10 career list in the 50 free (7th, 23.21) and 100 free (4th, 50.26)... Three-time second-team All-Western Athletic Conference award winner.
2012-13: Earned second-team All-WAC in the 50 and 100 free... Scored 27 individual points at the 2013 WAC Championships... Finished eighth in the 50 free at the Early Bird Invitational (10/12)... A member of the first place 400 free relay team at UC Davis (10/27)... Two-time winner in the 50 and 100 free against UC Santa Cruz (11/3).
2011-12: Redshirt for the season.
2010-11: Second team All-WAC in the 400 free relay at the WAC Championship... Part of the school-record setting 400 free relay team at the WAC Championship in 3:22.29... Competed in four different events at the George Hines Invitational (10/15-16) and at the University of San Diego Relay Meet on (1/9).
2009-10: Mainly swam in freestyle sprints and the 100 back... Earned a couple of dual wins at Cal State East Bay (1/9) in the 200 free, and 200 medley relay races... Fastest season times: 50 free 24:36, 100 free 52:67 and 200 free 1:54.95.
BEAR RIVER HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated in 2009 from Bear River High School in Grass Valley, Calif., the alma mater of Spartan head coach Sage Hopkins... Four-year varsity letterwinner (Coaches Taryn Loehr, Tom Dayton)...Set school records in 50 and 100 free... Placed fourth in the 50 free and ninth in the 100 at the Sac-Joaquin Section championships as a junior... All-Pioneer Valley League in the 200 and 500 free as a senior and 100 back as a sophomore... Top marks as a senior were 24.43 in the 50 free and 52.7 in the 100 free... Scholastic All-American... Most Improved Award as a freshman... Also played one year on the varsity water polo team.
ELANA: Majoring in environmental studies... First began competitive swimming as a high school freshman... Competed for Bear River Swimming Association (Coach Daryn Glasgow) based in Auburn, Calif. ... Elana Nichole Faria was born in Woodland, Calif., on August 5, 1991.
