Chancellor Davis brings more than 25 years of experience in education, leadership, student success, and athletics to San José State University. Originally from Las Vegas, Nevada, he has dedicated his career to empowering students through academic achievement, mentorship, and leadership development. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction, a second Master of Education in Educational Leadership, and is currently completing a Doctor of Education in Higher Education Leadership.
A former collegiate basketball student-athlete, Chancellor competed at the Division I level at Northern Arizona University and later continued his collegiate career at Dixie College before completing his undergraduate studies at UNLV.
Before joining San José State University, Chancellor served as a high school principal in the Clark County School District, where he led comprehensive school improvement initiatives focused on increasing graduation rates, strengthening college and career readiness, and expanding opportunities for student success.
Outside of work, Chancellor enjoys mentoring aspiring leaders, following collegiate athletics, and advocating for educational excellence and student success. He was born in Las Vegas, NV, and graduated from Cheyenne High School in North Las Vegas, NV, where he lettered in basketball and football.
