David Lovercheck enters his fifth season in 2013 as an assistant coach with the San Jose State women[apos]s soccer team. His primary responsibilities include recruiting, compliance and on-field training.
Alongside his work at San Jose State, he isa Region IV Olympic Development Program staff member. He wasthe head coach of U15 Pride Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) in Los Altos, Calif., which he led to the ECNL National Championships in Richmond, Va., in July 2013. Before coaching at San Jose State, he worked for the FC Gold Pride in its inaugural season as a Women[apos]s Professional Soccer League club.
Lovercheck[apos]s collegiate coaching career began in 2007 with a one-year stint as a Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) (New York, N.Y.) assistant men[apos]s soccer coach. That season, the team was the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) Regular Season and Tournament champion.Lovercheck[apos]s tenure at BMCC followed a four-year playing career for conference-rival Hunter College in New York, N.Y., where he was a four-year captain and a two-time all-CUNYAC selection.
From 1999 to 2008, Lovercheck was involved with the Downtown United Soccer Club (DUSC). Most notably, he was the program director for a soccer clinic developed by the DUSC to provide free soccer instruction to inner-city elementary schools.
Lovercheck earned a bachelor[apos]s degree in Organizational Behavior and Leadership from the University of San Francisco in 2010. He holds a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) [quote]B[quote] License. A Bay Area native, David, his wife Jen and their daughter Emily live in San Jose, Calif.
