Dr. Shea Charles was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawai‘i. She is an alumna of the University of Hawai‘i, receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Ethnic Studies; the University of Connecticut, receiving her Master of Arts in Geography; and finally, a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology.
She has previously worked in athlete academic support at the University of Connecticut. Her dissertation focused on executive function, adult learning, and the athletic performance of DI athletes, as well as the resources available to their coaches. She brings these experiences and knowledge into her work to best support athletes' academic, social, and athletic endeavors, helping them become well-rounded young adults.
Outside of academics, Shea plays in a recreational hockey league, enjoys reading new books, traveling to new places both in and outside of the States, and catching a good local sporting event!
