Jack Townsend enters his first season as an assistant coach and video coordinator with the San José State men's basketball program. Prior to joining the SJSU men's basketball staff, Townsend served as the Spartan's basketball team manager for two seasons while completing his degree in communication studies, graduating in 2025. Before SJSU, Townsend spent one season as a men's basketball student manager at UC Santa Barbara. Townsend also received an AA communications degree from De Anza College in 2022.
Townsend graduated from Cupertino High School in 2020. Townsend was a member of his varsity basketball team for all four years of high school and he recorded over 1,000 career points.
His father, Jason Townsend, is well respected high school basketball coach at Fremont High School in Sunnyvale, California. Townsend has two siblings, an older brother Ben, and younger sister Grace. His parents are Jason and Shana.
