Jaclyn Rosen, a native of San Francisco, CA, swam for the University of Hawaii, where she was a two-time team captain and a Western Athletic Conference Team Champion. Currently in the kinesiology program at San Jose State University, pursuing her master[apos]s in sport psychology, Jaclyn works with the Spartans swim team alongside head coaches Sage Hopkins and Pete Raykovich. During the 2011-2012 season, Jaclyn assisted the Spartans to an 8-2 dual meet record, produced eight Western Athletic Conference Champions, one NCAA D1 qualifier, and three Olympic Trials qualifiers. During the 2012-2013 season, the Spartans held a 9-1 dual meet record and became the Western Athletic Conference team champions.
Jaclyn brings extensive experience and knowledge to the Spartans program. During 2009 and 2011 Jaclyn was the head swim coach of the Highlands Dolphins Aquatic Club, Jaclyn coached ninety-six swimmers. Besides gaining experience from running the logistical aspects of an aquatic club, her work with age-group swimmers taught her the basics of advanced stroke mechanics and how to utilize those functions to achieve maximum output in collegiate swimming. For two seasons, Jaclyn assisted Phong Pham, head coach of City College of San Francisco; to a dual meet record of 6-1, producing swimmers that qualified for State Championships and All-American times.
As a graduate student at San Jose State University, Jaclyn[apos]s research focuses on talent identification in Division I collegiate recruiting. Jaclyn[apos]s research examines behavioral and linguistic techniques used by coaches to identify potential [quote]fit[quote] between team and athlete, establishing the efficacy of recruiting techniques and the concomitant benefit of those practices to form a successful team. She hopes to utilize her knowledge of bio-mechanics, physiology, and sports psychology in her coaching to help her swimmers and team yield their maximum potential.
