At SJSU, Max previously worked as a Senior, Student Academic Success Specialist providing academic guidance to first and second-year students that included: introducing students to their academic requirements, academic planning tools, and campus resources. This includes curating programming efforts and materials to support student’s transition to SJSU and to enhance skills and behaviors that facilitate academic success.
In his role as an Athletic Academic Coach, Max works with student-athletes to ensure that they meet academic eligibility requirements, and are aware of NCAA policies and procedures. He also collaborates with campus departments to ensure students meet major graduation requirements.
Previously, Max worked at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo as a Program Coordinator for TRIO Educational Talent Search, and as a Volunteer Student-Athlete Academic Coach mentoring and advising first-time freshmen and transfer student-athletes throughout their first year on
campus to help with their adjustment to the university setting and overall wellbeing as a collegiate student-athlete.
Max Estrada has graduated and earned his A.A. in Social Sciences from Hartnell College as a two-time letterman in Soccer, his B.A. in History from UCLA as a two-time letterman as well, and his M.S. in Higher Education Counseling and Student Affairs from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.
He is an active National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) member.
He was born in Salinas, CA, and graduated from Alisal High School, where he lettered in Soccer.
