In April, 2014, Mia Fisher was named as assistant coach with the San José State women[apos]s basketball program.
Fisher, who spent the 2013 season with the Stanford University women[apos]s basketball program, will work primarily developing point guards, recruiting, scouting opponents and coordinating team travel.
A native of Pleasanton, Calif., Fisher is a 2006 graduated of UC Santa Barbara and a four-year member of its women[apos]s basketball team. She was a four-time All-Big West honoree including being named to the Big West All-Freshman Team in 2002.
Fisher finished her career as the 11th leading scorer in Gauchos history, with more than 1,300 points. In addition, she ranks in the career top-10 for UC Santa Barbara in field goal percentage (No. 6 - .523), assists (No. 9 - 327), free throws made (No. 9 - 333) and free throw percentage (No.10 - .762). She led the squad to four Big West Conference Championships and four trips to the NCAA Tournament, including the programs[apos] 2004 run to the Sweet 16.
After graduation, Fisher played eight professional seasons for teams in Belgium, Bosnia, France and Turkey. She was also a member of the coaching staff at Oakland, California[apos]s Bishop O[apos]Dowd High School and from 2006 through 2013 was a Senior Trainer at Triple Threat Academy tutoring young players women in basketball development skills and personal growth.
A four-time team MVP at Amador Valley High School in Pleasanton, she finished her career as the program[apos]s all-time leading scorer. The team won the NorCal and North Coast section titles three consecutive years and runners-up twice in the state tournament.
