Nate Olson was named Director of Annual Giving for Intercollegiate Athletics in July 2020. In the role, he is responsible for managing day-to-day operations for the One Spartan Nation annual fund and works with alumni and friends of San Jose State to provide resources for Spartan Student-Athletes.
Prior to that, Olson was originally hired as San Jose State's Annual Giving Officer, a role that he held for a year.
Before joining the Spartans, Olson was the Athletics Development Associate at Boston University from 2018-19. Prior to that appointment, he served as the Assistant Director of Leadership Annual Giving at Hamline University in St. Paul, Minn. from 2017-18.
Olson graduated from the University of Minnesota-Morris with a bachelor's in sport management in 2016. He was a member of the Cougars' football team as a tight end for three seasons. After his playing career, Olson worked for one season as the football team's director of operations while working towards his undergrad. He received his Master's in Intercollegiate Athletic Leadership with an emphasis in administration from the University of Washington in 2017. During his time with the Huskies, he worked as a graduate assistant in the Tyee club for the Husky Athletics fundraising team.
Olson currently lives in San Jose with his dog, a German Shepard named Freyja. In his spare time, Olson works as an amateur brewer and collects classic rock on vinyl. His most-prized album is "Wish You Were Here" by Pink Floyd.
