Nik Rao begins his fourth season as a member of the Spartan volleyball coaching staff. He handles all video responsibilities for the team, equipment, scheduling and tracking players statistically in practice and games. During practice, Rao works on floor defense, serve-receive, blocking systems and pin attacking .
Rao played five years on the UC Davis men[apos]s club team. He was a five-year captain on the team and a three-time Defensive Player of Year honoree. He was also a student assistant for the women[apos]s program for the 2008 season. Rao has coached the San Jose State men[apos]s club in the past.
He currently coaches at City Beach Volleyball Club where he has the 18 Green team. Rao coached the 18 Black in 2011 and won the Southern California JO Qualifier. Rao also coaches for Gold Medal Squarred Volleyball Camps. In boys volleyball, Rao coached at Leland High School for two seasons and for the Central Coast Volleyball Club.
Rao received a bachelor of arts degree in psychology from UC Davis in 2009.
