Roberto Rodriguez joined SJSU in July of 2025 as the interim goalkeeping coach and brings over a decade of high-level coaching and goalkeeper development experience across collegiate, academy, and professional soccer. He has served in diverse roles, including assistant coach at Cal Poly Men’s Soccer and Idaho State Women’s Soccer, where he contributed to team tactics, set-piece strategy, and goalkeeper performance. At Idaho State, his coaching helped achieve top conference rankings in goalkeeper metrics for the 2024 season.
Roberto’s background includes time with Liga MX’s Xolos of Tijuana as Academy and Second Team Goalkeeper Coach, where he led structured periodization programs and successfully promoted players to first-team action. He also held head coach and goalkeeper director positions at Central Coast United and San Diego Surf, demonstrating a strong commitment to player development and team success.
Certified with a USSF C License and fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, Roberto excels in film analysis (InStat/Wyscout), recruitment coordination, and individualized training design. His broad expertise and international coaching experience make him a valuable asset to the San Jose State Club Soccer program.
