Ryan Jordan was promoted to assistant athletics director for compliance in September 2019 after serving as the assistant director for athletics compliance at San José State University beginning in June 2018. He provides guidance on NCAA and conference rules regarding the recruitment of student-athletes and scheduling of practice and playing seasons for the Spartans’ 22 intercollegiate athletics programs.
Jordan's professional career include positions in state government, the legal field, professional baseball in Australia, and intercollegiate athletics.
He was a law clerk for a Milwaukee, Wis., based firm and served as a legislative intern to state assemblyman Evan Goyke (Dem. – Wis.) before spending the 2017 and 2018 academic years as an athletics compliance intern for Northern Illinois University.
Jordan has his J.D. (Juris Doctor) from the Marquette University Law School. While in law school, he was the President of the Sports Law Society, a member of the Marquette Sports Law Review, a mediator for the Marquette Small Claims Mediation Clinic and provided his services to the Milwaukee County Child Support Services. The 2013 University of Wisconsin La Crosse graduate majored in exercise and sports science: sport management.
The Madison, Wis., native is a member of the NAAC (National Association for Athletic Compliance).
