The 2012-13 San Jose State University women's swimming and diving team was honored by the College Swim Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) as one of 140 NCAA Division I programs with a team grade-point average of 3.00 or higher.
The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) champion the last two years was credited with a team grade-point average of 3.24 for the 30-member squad.
"I am very proud of the academic accomplishments of my team this past year. Academic success and achievement are something stressed daily," says Sage Hopkins, San Jose State University's women's swimming and diving head coach.
"I firmly believe that reaching one's potential athletically will not happen unless the student-athlete commits herself to achieving everything they can academically as well. Success does not happen in a vacuum."
During the 2012-13 academic year, 16 team members were named to the Academic All-WAC team including San Jose State University Dean's List honorees Darcie Anderson, a senior-to-be majoring in kinesiology; Amy Kilby, a senior majoring in communicative disorders and sciences; and Amber Nelson, a junior-to-be majoring in biomedical engineering.
