Rebecca Garcia led San José State and scored in her ninth consecutive race at the Fresno State Invitational on Sunday Morning.
Garcia clocked a 20:07.70 and finished 22nd in the women's 5K event at Woodward Park. She was The Spartans' leader when they kicked the season off two weeks ago in the USF Invitational.
As a team the Spartans finished in fourth place out of six teams and scored 121 points. Cal Poly had a near perfect score of 18 and took first place. The Mustangs' Ashley Berstrom was the top runner in a field of 65 with a time of 18:09.30.
Also in the top-25 for San José State was Aylin Mejia. She finished in 25th with a time of 20:11.80.
Nina Sassano in 32nd place, Lalida Maokhamphiou in 34th and Alexandra Seda in 39th rounded out the scorers for San José State.
Also in competition for SJSU: Marissa Buckley (21:06.90, 40th), Karina Nunes (21:28.60, 43rd) and Joanna Reyes (21:57.20, 48th).
The Spartans' next competition is on September 28th at the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif.
