Sacramento, Calif. - The San Jose State University women's soccer team outshot Sacramento State by four shots but lost to the Hornets, 1-0, in a non-conference match on Sunday, September 8.
Sacramento State scored the match's first goal at the 71-minute mark. Alyssa Anderson knocked the ball past Zoe Makrigiannis while parked at her far post for the 1-0 score.
The Spartans outshot Sacramento State, 8-to-5, with Lupita Estrada's two shots a San Jose State-high.
In her first start of the season, Makrigiannis made one save, while Hornet Kimberly Mata made five saves.
After their first Friday off since the start of the season, the Spartans host UC Santa Barbara on Sunday, September 15 at 1:00 p.m. for their 2013 Spartan Stadium debut.
