David Fales & Jarrod Lawson Receive Football Honors

San Jose, Calif.-----San Jose State University football quarterback David Fales and running back Jarrod Lawsonwere honored by several regional and national outlets for their contributions in the Spartans' 34-27 victory at Colorado State on October 12.

Fales became the San Jose State player to be named the Mountain West Conference Offensive Player of the Week. The senior from Salinas, Calif., completed 28-of-35 passes with an interception for 431 yards and touchdown passes of 83, 77 and 62 yards. He also had nine carries for 33 rushing yards.

The San Jose State quarterback tied a Mountain West record with his fourth consecutive game passing for 300 or more yards. The Manning Award given to the nation's top quarterback and sponsored by the Allstate Sugar Bowl and the College Football Performance Awards program based in Davidson, North Carolina cited him for his superior performance as the Spartans won for the second time in eight days - both on the road. The Manning Award named him one of its eight Manning Award's Stars of the Week. He was named a Football Bowl Subdivision honorable mention Quarterback Performer of the week by the College Football Performance Awards group.

In his first start for San Jose State, Lawson accumulated 202 all-purpose yards of rushing and receiving against Colorado State. He led San Jose State in rushing with 98 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries and added three receptions for 103 yards and the team's first touchdown on an 83-yard play.
