The San José State men's and women's cross country teams wrap up the 2013 regular season this Saturday, October 19 at the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational in Sunnyvale, Calif.
Four college races will take place Saturday at Baylands Park; starting with the men's 8K invitational at 9:00 a.m. and the women's 6K invitational at 9:45. The men's 8K Open event follows at 10:30 a.m. and the women's 6K Open at 11:15 a.m. will conclude the day's events.
The Spartan men's team last competed on September 28 in the Stanford Invitational where it finished 10th place. The women's team competed in last Friday's San Francisco State Invitational and came in 8th place.
The Santa Clara Bronco Invitational has a deep field in all races. The Division I schools competing are: California, Fresno State, Idaho, Loyola Marymount, Montana, Sacramento State, Stanford, UC Davis, UC Santa Barbara. Also competing: Idaho State, San Diego, Saint Mary's (CA) and UC Santa Cruz. Oregon State, and Hawai'i will also compete in the women's race.
This weekend's race will serve as the final regular season tuneup before San José State heads to Colorado Springs, Colo., for the Mountain West Championship on November 1.
"The team has been training hard," said distance coach Brad Wick. "The team will start to see their times drop this weekend and even more in the conference meet. The course this weekend is spectator friendly and only a few miles away from our campus. We hope to see some Spartan support on Saturday."
