SAN JOSÉ STATE FACES FORMER WAC FOES THIS WEEKEND: The San José State University women's soccer team (2-10-0, 1-3-0 MW) faces a pair of former Western Athletic Conference (WAC) rivals this weekend. The Spartans travel to Boise State on Friday, October 11 for a 12:30 p.m. (PDT) match against the Broncos, then host Utah State for a 12:00 p.m. (PDT) match on Sunday, October 13.
San José State earned its first shutout of the season in a double overtime victory over UNLV on Friday, October 4. The team's first 1-0 double overtime shutout since 2009, Lupita Estrada scored the game-winner in the 105th minute for her team-leading fourth goal of the season.
Despite generating a bevy of scoring chances, the Spartans lost to the Nevada Wolf Pack, 2-1, in a Mountain West match on Sunday, October 6, out-shooting Nevada, 13-6, to tie its largest shot margin of the season.

BOISE STATE BRONCOS: The Broncos (7-4-2, 2-1 MW) will be a tough defensive opponent for the Spartans, posting a 2-0-2 record at home and allowing just 11 goals in their 13 matches played this season.
In goal, Maddy McDevitt has been a major reason for Boise State's success, playing every minute for the Broncos and posting a 0.80 goals against average with six shutouts.
Offensively, Brooke Heidemann has scored six of the team's 15 goals this season, taking a team-leading 33 shots.
All-time, Boise State has a 7-4-2 record over the Spartans. The teams last played at the 2010 WAC Tournament, when the San José State blanked Boise State, 2-0.
Jim Thomas is in his first season as the Broncos' head coach.
UTAH STATE AGGIES: Utah State (6-4-2, 2-1-0 MW) has gleaned offensive support from a slew of players, with 12 different Aggies earning at least a point through the team's first 12 matches.
The team is led offensively by Jennifer Flynn and Taryn Rose, who have each scored a team-leading three goals.
Goalkeeper Jeannie Woller's 58 saves, five shutouts and 4.83 saves per game are tied for second-most in the Mountain West.
The series is even at 5-5-2. Last season, San José State fell to Utah State, 1-0 in Logan.
Heather Cairns is in her 11th season as Utah State's head coach.
SAN JOSÉ STATE HEAD COACH: Head Coach Jeff Leightman is at the Spartans' helm for his sixth season, entering 2013 with a 40-47-11 record. The 2009 Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Coach of the Year, he is the only coach to lead his team to back-to-back regular season conference titles. In each of his first four years, he led the Spartans to a WAC Tournament bid.

McColl Matthews, a forward, has played in nine of the team's matches this season with four starts. She assisted on one goal, taking two shots, both of which were between the pipes.
Carley McBeath has started 10 of 11 matches for the Spartans this season as a midfielder or defender. She has one assist and has taken 12 shots, six of which were on goal.
Megan Molina, a midfielder, has started all of the Spartans' matches this season. She has taken 13 shots, six of which were between the pipes.
Megan Rauschnot, a midfielder, has started eight of the team's matches, taking one shot this season.

Sarah Peplinski has started seven of the Spartans' 12 matches this season, making appearances in eight matches. In 610:10 minutes played, she has a 1-6 record with a 2.51 goals against average and a .630 save percentage.
