Nevada record: 3-7, 2-5 Mountain West. The Wolf Pack lost their fifth game in a row in a 38-17 defeat at Colorado State on November 9.

San José State-Nevada series: The Wolf Pack leads the series, 16-8-2. Nevada has wins in the last four meetings between these teams including a 17-14 victory in San Jose on September 17, 2011. San José State's last win in the series was a 27-24 victory in Spartan Stadium on November 24, 2007. The Spartans' last victory at Mackay Stadium was a 49-30 decision on November 21, 2000. Since then, Nevada won the next five meetings between these teams in Reno.
Recent road success: With the win at UNLV on November 2, San José State is 9-3 record in its last 12 road games dating back to a 27-24 win at Fresno State on November 26, 2011. The Nevada game is the Spartans last road game of the season.
Turning takeaways into points: In San Jose State's last two games at UNLV and against San Diego State, the Spartans converted four takeaways (three interceptions and one fumble recovery) into 24 points on three touchdowns and a field goal. After scoring just twice on its first seven takeaways, San Jose State has seven scores after its last eight takeaways going back to the Colorado State win on October 12. For the season, the Spartans have scored 51 points on 15 takeaways (11 interceptions and four fumbles).
National leader in blocked kicks: After blocking two extra-point and one field goal try by San Diego State, San Jose State is the national leader in blocked kicks with six in games played through November 9. Defensive tackle Travis Raciti leads the team with two. Defensive linemen Tony Popovich, Fernando Villanueva and Nate Falo and safety Simon Connetteeach have one.
Regaining a ground game: After averaging 216.25 rushing yards on 44.75 carries per game during its four-game winning streak, the Spartans were limited to 81 yards on 25 attempts in the San Diego State game. San José State notched a season-high 312 yards in the UNLV win - the most by the Spartans in a game since the 476 yards in the 2006 Louisiana Tech victory.
Passing game still producing: In San Jose State's last five games, the Spartans have thrown 16 touchdown passes to raise their season total to 22. San Jose State's season-high five touchdown throws came in the 51-44 win over Wyoming. Eight Spartans have at least one touchdown reception heading into the Nevada game.
More field goal attempts in 2013: In 2012, San Jose State attempted 17 field goals in a 13-game schedule. This season, the Spartans tried a field goal 20 times in their first nine games with three regular-season games remaining.
