Nashville, Tenn.-----Record-setting San Jose State University wide receiver Tyler Winston was named a third-team freshman All-America by Athlon Sports.
A starter in just the final eight games of the season, the 6-foot-2 first-year player set Spartan freshman records with 58 receptions and 858 receiving yards in 2013. The Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Year scored five touchdowns - four of them coming in the Hawaii, Colorado State, Wyoming and Fresno State wins.
He was the only Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) freshman with four games of 100 or more yards in pass receiving and the only freshman to catch 10 or more passes in back-to-back games this season.
