College Station, Texas ---The San José State University women's tennis team (2-3) had two wins in singles play, but the Spartans fell short, 4-2, in the ITA Kickoff consolation match against Mississippi State (2-1).
In singles play, junior Julianna Bacelar picked up the Spartan's first win of the day after defeating Mississippi State's Naomi Tran in a super tiebreaker, 2-6, 6-2, 1-0 (8). This is Bacelar's fourth dual match singles win of the season.
The second point for San José State came from the #6 singles spot, as junior Justine Deleval topped Rosalinda Calderon, 3-6, 7-5, 1-0 (7).
The Spartan's will be back in action as they take on the University of Arizona on February 1, 2014. The match will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center, located on Arizona's campus.
