Princeton, N.J.----- For the first time entering a dual match season, the San Jose State University women's tennis team is nationally-ranked an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) computer ranking.
Following a strong fall tournament season, San Jose State is 65th among the top-75 teams ranked by the ITA. The Spartans won more than 58 percent of their singles and doubles matches last fall.
The doubles team of freshmen Gaelle Rey from Geneva, Switzerland and Marie Klockerof Mulhouse, France is ranked 47th nationally in the January 2 ITA doubles rankings. In the fall, Klocker and Rey were 4-2 as a pair and posted a win over California's Lynn Chi and Annett Schutting, ranked 11th in the first ITA doubles ranking of the season, at the Stanford Invitational in mid-October.
San Jose State opens its dual match season with a pair of matches in Hawaii. The Spartans face Nevada on January 14 and Hawaii on January 15.
