San José, Calif. --- The San José State women's university women's tennis team continues its challenging early-season schedule on the road with a pair of non-conference matches against nationally-ranked teams Saturday, February 8, and Sunday, February 9.

On Saturday, the Spartans (2-5) will be in Long Beach, Calif. where they take on the #46-Long Beach State (3-1) in an 11:00 a.m. match. The 49ers will be the third nationally-ranked opponent in a row for San Jose State.

The Spartans then head to San Diego to wrap up the week against #59-Utah (1-1) on Sunday, February 9.

San Jose State's last dual-match victory was a 4-3 triumph over unranked Sacramento State. Since then, the Spartans lost to DePaul, now ranked #74, unranked Mississippi State, #73-Arizona and #24-Arizona State.

Julianna Bacelar leads the Spartans in singles wins with her 12-4 record. She is 5-1 playing #4-singles and heads to Long Beach State with a two-match winning streak.

Head coach Sylvain Malroux re-teamed his nationally-ranked, number-one doubles tandem of freshmen Gaelle Rey and Marie Klocker for the Arizona and Arizona State matches. Rey and Klocker were ranked #47 in the January 2 Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings.
