Chandler Jones & Keith Smith 1st Free Agent Signings

With 27 of the 32 teams reporting its undrafted free agent signings, San Jose State University's Chandler Jones and Keith Smithare beginning National Football League (NFL) careers with the Cleveland Browns and Dallas Cowboys, respectively.

Jones finished his Spartan career as San Jose State's career leader for pass receptions with 248 and touchdown catches with 29 and second for receiving yards with 3,087. In 2013, he set two single-season records catching a touchdown pass in five consecutive games and 15 scoring receptions overall.

Smith led the Spartans in tackles in each of his four seasons starting with 2010 when he became the school's first player to be named a Freshman All-America by the Football Writers Association of America. He finished his career ninth in Football Bowl Subdivision history for total tackles with 476. A linebacker for the Spartans, he is slated to begin his professional career as a safety with Dallas.

The most recent Spartan undrafted free agent to make a NFL active roster as a rookie was safety Duke Ihenacho in 2012 with the Denver Broncos.

Jones and Smith join cornerback Bené Benwikere and quarterback David Falesas 2014 NFL rookies. Benwikere was a fifth-round draft choice of the Carolina Panthers. The Chicago Bears selected Fales in the sixth round.

Buffalo, Carolina, Houston, Oakland and Washington are the five teams that did not announce any undrafted free agent signings through May 12.
