43 Named 2013-14 Mountain West Scholar-Athletes

Colorado Springs, Colo. --- Forty-three (43) San José State University student-athletes across 12 sports received one of the Mountain West's highest academic honors Tuesday with the announcement of the 2013-14 Scholar-Athlete Awards.

To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least two academic terms at the member institution, while maintaing a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better, and have participated in a varsity competition in a MW sponsored sport.

Nine women's swimming and diving team members received the honor to lead all SJSU sports. Softball and women's cross country/outdoor track were a close second with seven, and women's tennis was third with five honorees.

Four women's soccer players earned the award. Baseball, women's basketball, women's golf, volleyball and men's cross country all had two members honored. Tim Crawley became the SJSU football programs first conference scholar-athlete.

These 43 San José State student-athletes will go down as the first in school history to be named Mountain West Scholar-Athletes.
