MONTEREY PARK, Calif. - The San José State University women's swimming team ended its first day of competition at the A3 Performance Invitational in fifth place with 191 points.
Junior Riley Spitser led the Spartans in the three-day meet at East Los Angeles College. Spitser claimed the Spartans lone first place finish, finishing ahead of the pack in the 500-yard free, touching the wall in 4:46.10.
"We are really happy with Riley's performance this evening," said head coach Sage Hopkins. "That was a great swim for her, and she is just beginning to scratch the surface of her potential."
Day two of the three-day event is set to begin at 9:00 a.m. PT.
