San Jose State University running back Tyler Ervin picked up his second award of the week when he was named to Sports Illustrated's 2014 All-America football team as an honorable mention all-purpose player.
Ervin led the Spartans in rushing with 888 yards and four touchdowns, caught 29 passes for 306 yards and a touchdown, and was the team's primary kickoff and punt returner. His six touchdowns was tops on the 2014 Spartans. Three of his six scores were a 75-yard pass reception at Auburn, an 83-yard run against UNLV and an 89-yard run against Colorado State. Ervin is the first San Jose State player to have more than one 80-plus yard touchdown run in a career.
Named San Jose State's Most Valuable Player at the team's recent annual awards banquet, the junior from Colton (Calif.) High presently ranks 13th nationally in all-purpose running averaging 148.1 yards per game.
