San José State student athletes continued learning away from competition last week as 50 student-athletes participated in the annual Etiquette Night hosted by the San José State Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
The event was sponsored by Southern Wine & Spirits for the seventh year and held at The Loft in downtown San Jose. Greg Clefisch ran the event on behalf of Southern Wine & Spirits.
The student-athletes learned a variety of etiquette tips including how to dress for interviews, serving people from left to right and how to eat while on a job interview. Participants then put the tips they learned to use as they enjoyed dinner of flank steak, chicken, pasta or salmon.
“This was a great experience for us, the student-athletes, to gather together outside of our sports,” said SAAC president and women’s swimmer Haley Smith. “This session taught us a lot of real-world skills and how to handle situations we will be in once we graduate.”
