Four Meets In As Many Days Ahead For Women's Outdoor Track And Field

April 15, 2015

A busy week that includes four competitions in as many days begins Wednesday with Jade Childs representing San José State women's outdoor track and field in the Mt. SAC Heptathlon in Azusa, Calif.

Day one events include the 100-meter hurdles, high jump, shot put and 200-meter dash. The long jump, javelin and 800-meter dash will take place Thursday.

The team will then be competing in a variety of events at the Bryan Clay Invitational (4/17), the Beach Invitational (4/18) and the Mt. SAC Relays (4/18).

Friday, 16 Spartan athletes will compete in a full slate at the Bryan Clay Invitational including sprint, distance, and relay track events plus the high, long and triple jumps. Jennifer Beckingham will hit the track in the 1500 for the first time since she set a personal-record in that event at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival (4/3-4).

Rebecca Garcia will also look to build off of her personal-record at the Clay Invite in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, which she set last time out at the Distance Carnival.

Kelsey Johnson-Upshaw, coming off of a school-record 5.75-mark in the long jump at the Mesa Classic (4/10), is scheduled to jump at both the Clay and Beach Invitational meets. Caitlin Wilson is also expected to run in the 400-meter dash at both events after clocking a school-record in that same event last weekend at the Sun Angel Classic (4/11).
