Osland Participating In NCAA Career In Sports Forum

Indianapolis, Ind.--San José State University women's golfer Megan Osland has been selected to participate in the NCAA Career in Sports Forum in Indianapolis this June 4-7.

Osland is one of more than 200 current student-athletes and NCAA postgraduate scholarship recipients participating.  The attendees expressed an interest in pursuing a career in sports, were viewed as leaders on their campus and were nominated by administrators at their respective schools.

A four-year letterwinner for the Spartan women's golf team, Osland finished her senior year with the sixth-best scoring average in a season at 73.52 this year and was recognized with first team All-Mountain West honors.  Osland won two collegiate tournaments during the season -- Wyoming Cowgirl Desert Intercollegiate and Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational.  She finished in the top-10 in six of her 11 tournaments played and led the team to a third-place finish at the 2015 MW Championship.  For her work in the classroom, Osland is a San José State Dean's Scholar and an SJSU Scholar Athlete.

"I saw this as a unique opportunity to learn from the nation's best athletic professionals," said Osland.  "These professionals are successful in their athletic careers.  As a recreation management major, this opportunity allows me to network with other athletes who are interested in similar career paths.

"I am honored to be one of just 200 selected for the forum.  The week will be packed with various unique learning and networking opportunities that you cannot find anywhere else.  I am confident that I will leave the forum with a solid understanding of the path I want to take with my future career in athletics."

The Career in Sports Forum provides college athletes with a broader scope of the career tracks available within the sports business, with the primary focus on college athletics. The forum provides student-athletes interactive experiences with successful individuals in the sports business and a peek into their day-to-day duties and responsibilities. 

Forum attendees will hear from keynote speakers and panelists, highlighted by NCAA president Mark Emmert, Great Lakes Valley Conference commissioner Jim Naumovich, Ole Miss Director of Athletics Ross Bjork. The participants also learn best practices for gaining employment and gathering a better understanding of what future expectations will be once they get a job in sports.
