Ashtin Chastain of Norco (Calif.) High School has signed to compete for the San José State University men's basketball team beginning with the 2015-16 season. Head coach Dave Wojcik made the announcement.
"Ashtin brings a terrific skill set and high basketball IQ to San José State," Wojcik said. He has learned a tremendous amount from coaches John Cabrera (Norco HS), Eric Perry (Norco HS) and Charlie Mercado (Gamepoint AAU). Not only will Ashtin impact our team on the floor, but he will be an outstanding member of the San Jose community. Ashtin comes from a family with great values which will mesh perfectly with the other players in our family."
Chastain, a 6-foot-11 center, averaged nine points and nine rebounds as a junior in 2013-14. He averaged 11.4 points and 9.4 rebounds in 17 games of the 2014-15 season as a senior. He shot just over 50 percent from the floor in his junior and senior seasons combined.
Chastain competed in AAU ball for Gamepoint Basketball.
