New Orleans, La. --- San José State heptathlete Jade Childs and triple jumper Nicole Iloanya have been named to the 2014-15 Division I All-Academic Track and Field Team by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Childs and Iloanya are among the 35 Mountain West athletes from five member institutions to receive the national honor. A total of 838 Division I women's honorees were announced by the association on Friday.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, a student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships, or be ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event, or top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org.
In her freshman season, Iloanya had the Mountain West's top regular-season mark of 12.97 meters in the triple jump, and represented San José State in that event at the NCAA West Preliminary Championships in Austin, Texas (5/28-30).
After transferring and redshirting the indoor season, Childs finished the year ranked 81st nationally for the Division I women's heptathlon event, scoring a lifetime-best 4,991 at the California Invitational Combined Meet (4/15-16).
Both Iloanya and Childs are San José State school record holders in their respective events.
