Football Practice Starts August 4; Bay Area Football Preview August 3

The San Jose State University football team embarks on its 2015 season Tuesday, August 4, with its first full team practice.

Head coach Ron Caragher will have the Spartans on the practice field next to Spartan Stadium starting at 4:15 p.m. The August 4 practice is open to the public and is expected to end at approximately 7:00 p.m. Future preseason practices open to the public will be announced at a later date.

Sixteen starters, eight on offense, six on defense and two kickers, are among 41 letterwinners and 14 returning redshirts expected to be on the field for the first of a month of practice opportunities leading to the season opener against New Hampshire on September 3, at 7:00 p.m. in Spartan Stadium.

San Jose State begins the month of August with nearby schools Stanford and California and the Foster Farms Bowl at the annual Bay Area Football Preview at Levi's Stadium. Caragher and senior co-captains Jimmy Pruitt, a starting cornerback, and offensive tackle Wes Schweitzer will represent the Spartans.
