San Jose State Football NFL Preseason Week 1 Wrap-up

Eight former San Jose State University football players made their 2015 National Football League preseason debuts in games during the week ending August 15.

Two Spartans, safety Dwight Lowery and defensive tackle Travis Raciti were on opposite sides of the field in Philadelphia's 36-10 win over Indianapolis. Raciti was one of four Spartans to be credited with one tackle in week #1. Lowery was one of two San Jose State players to start in a game and was credited with a pass break up.

Akeem King, the Atlanta Falcons' seventh round draft choice, was credited with three tackles in Atlanta's 31-24 victory over Tennessee.

James Jones, a recent addition to the New York Giants roster after a combined seven seasons with the Green Bay Packers and Oakland Raiders, caught two passes for 11 yards in his debut.

Safety Duke Ihenacho was the other San Jose State player to start in a game and was credited with one tackle for Washington in the team's 20-17 win over Cleveland.

Detroit Lions cornerback Christopher Owens, Dallas Cowboys linebacker Keith Smith and cornerback Bené Benwikere each was in on a tackle in their games.

Chicago Bears quarterback David Fales, Houston Texans' offensive lineman David Quessenberry and Jacksonville Jaguars defensive back Peyton Thompson did not play for their respective teams.
