Los Angeles, Calif. ---- San José State's men's water polo team was outscored 10-1 in the first half by the No. 3-ranked University of Southern California Trojans as the Spartans lost 17-3 in conference action to conclude a two-game road trip on Sunday, October 4.
Two-meter defender Scott Reynolds scored the Spartans' (2-10, 0-2 MPFS) first goal at 5:32 mark in the second period. After the intermission driver Cade Baldridge and utility player Nick Serratos added a goal each for San José State in the third. The Spartans were shutout in the final period.
The Trojans' (12-1, 3-0 MPFS) top scorers were Blake Edwards, Lazar Pasuljevic and Grant Stein with three goals each.
Croatian goalkeeper Matej Matijevic made 9 saves for San José State.
The Spartans get a rematch against the Trojans to open the SoCal Invitational tournament on Saturday, October 10, at Pepperdine University in Malibu.
