San José State record: 4-6, 3-3 Mountain West. The Spartans lost at Nevada, 37-34 in overtime, on November 14. San José State has two losses in a row by a combined four points.
Hawai'i record: 2-9, 0-7 Mountain West. The Rainbow Warriors lost their eighth in a row, 42-14 to Fresno State, on November 14.
Series history: The series is tied, 18-18-1. In the last six meetings, each team has three wins. Hawai'i won last year's game, 13-0, in San José. It was the fifth shutout in the series dating back to 1936. San José State has three of those shutouts (1955, 1957 and 1962). San José State's last win in the series was a 37-27 comeback win at Aloha Stadium on October 5, 2013. This year's game marks the second time these teams are facing each other on November 21. In 2009, Hawai'i emerged with a 17-10 overtime win in San José.

See the USA: San José State is one of seven Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) teams to play at least one road game in four USA time zones this season. UNLV, BYU and Georgia State play road games in the four continental U.S. time zones. Fresno State, San Diego State and Louisiana Monroe have road contests in four different time zones with a road game at Hawai'i.
Last two road wins came in overtime: San José State ended a seven-game road losing streak dating back to the 2014 season with its 33-27 overtime win at UNLV on October 10. Prior to defeating UNLV, the Spartans previous road win was a 27-20 overtime victory at Wyoming on October 18, 2014.
Sign of a balanced offense: San José State is one of seven Football Bowl Subdivision teams with a differential in first downs rushing and first downs passing of less than five.
Most rushing touchdowns in a season since 2004: After 10 games, San José State has 20 rushing touchdowns. The last time a Spartan team scored 20 or more rushing touchdowns in a season was in 2004 with 22.
Rushing for 2,000 yards:  The 2015 San José State team is within reach of becoming the first Spartans since 2006 to gain at least 2,000 yards rushing in a season. San José State heads to Hawai'i with 1,848 yards and is averaging 184.8 rushing yards a game this season. Four times this season (New Hampshire, Fresno State, New Mexico and Nevada), San José State rushed for at least 200 yards in a game.
Potter bridges 30-year rushing gap: In the Nevada game, Kenny Potter became the first San José State quarterback in 30 years to rush for at least 100 yards in a game. Potter was credited with 116 yards on 19 rushing attempts. Two of his rushes were quarterback sacks. On October 12, 1985, Doug Allen was a San José State quarterback who rushed for 117 yards on just eight carries in a 37-17 loss at Fresno State.
#2-nationally in fewest penalty categories: In games played through November 14, San José State is second in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) leader for fewest penalty yards per game (31.0) and fewest penalty yards (310) and tied fourth in fewest penalties (39). Navy (30), Georgia Tech (35), and Ball State (38) are ahead the Spartans who are tied with Mississippi State (39) for fewest penalties assessed.
Outstanding 2015 for Tyler Ervin: Tyler Ervin ranks among the most productive Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) players this season. Through November 14, he is second nationally in all-purpose running yards per game (209.8), eighth in rushing yards (1,303) and and tenth in rushing yards per game (130.3). Ervin became the San José State career leader in all-purpose yardage in the Nevada game. He now has 5,607 yards entering the Hawai'i game.
One of college football's busiest players: Tyler Ervin heads into the Hawai'i game handling the football the third most among Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) players in 2015. Twice this season, he had the football in his hands more than 40 times. When the 177-pound senior ran for a school record 300 yards against Fresno State (9/26), he accumulated 345 yards of all-purpose running on 42 rushes and four pass receptions. In the New Mexico victory, he handled the ball 41 times (36 rushes, two pass receptions, three kickoff returns).
Team passing completion percentage:  San José State enters the Hawai'i game with a team passing completion percentage of 67.8 percent - tops in the Mountain West. In the New Hampshire (9/3) and Fresno State (9/26) wins, the Spartans completed 85.7 percent and 86.9 percent of their passes, respectively, and did not throw an interception in either game. San José State quarterback Kenny Potter ranks 12th nationally and first in the Mountain West with a 68.0 percent pass completion rate.
