San Jose, Calif.------ Dezz Ramos scored 18 of her game-high 26 points in the fourth quarter for San Jose State University, but the University of Hawaii hung on for a 76-73 women's basketball non-conference win over the Spartans.
Ramos was 8-of-10 from the field, made a pair of free throws and handed off one of her game-high six assists in the final 10 minutes as the Spartans (4-8) missed out on their bid for their first two-game winning streak of the season.
Brianna Harris led Hawaii (6-5) in scoring with a season-high 20 points. Harris came into the game converting 5-of-26 three-point field goal attempts, but doubled her season total in the win. The junior guard was 5-of-10 and connected on three three-point baskets and scored 12 of her 20 points in the fourth quarter. Her three-pointer to open the fourth quarter scoring put Hawaii ahead to stay, 54-51.
Kalei Adolpho with 15, Megan Huff with 13 and Ashleigh Karaitiana with 11 also were in double-figure scoring for Hawaii.
Myzhanique Ladd who made all five of her field goal tries to finish with 14 and Nyre Harris with 13 were San Jose State's two other players to score in double figures. Ladd's second three-point basket of the game tied the score at 51-51 to end the third quarter.
