Belgrade, Serbia----- Clara Espar Llaquet and Bianca Seyfert, starters the last two seasons for the San Jose State University women's water polo program, recently represented their country in the 2016 European Championships.

Espar Llaquet played for Spain; Seyfert, for Germany.

Espar Llaquet, a 2014 and 2015 All-American for the Spartans, helped Spain to a fourth-place finish in the 12-team tournament. She was the most tournament's most accurate shooter among those to score at least 10 goals. Espar Llaquet converted 80.0 percent of her shots scoring on 12 of 15 attempts. Rosaria Aiello of Italy at 71.4 percent (10 of 14) was the only other player in the tournament.

Seyfert, 20th on the San Jose State career goal scoring list, scored six goals on nine shots in the eight matches she played.

Both Spartans have their sights set this spring on helping their national team qualify for the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janiero. Eight teams will compete in August for Olympic medals.
